Pelatihan Infectious Coryza di Bangkok, Thailand

Dalam rangka meningkatkan kapasitas sumber daya manusianya, pada tanggal 19-21 Juli 2017 salah seorang dosen muda di Divisi Mikrobiologi Medik, Departemen Ilmu Penyakit Hewan dan Kesehatan Masyarakat Veteriner yaitu Drh. Dordia  Anindita Rotinsulu, MSi  mengikuti Pelatihan mengenai Penyakit Coryza di Universitas Chulalongkorn, Bangkok, Thailand.

Pelatihan intensif bertajuk “Coryza Isolation and Identification Workshop” secara mendetail membahas mengenai teknik isolasi dan identifikasi Penyakit Infectious Coryza yang disebabkan oleh bakteri Avibacterium paragallinarum. Materi pelatihan diberikan oleh Assoc. Prof. Niwat Chansiripornchai, DVM, MSc, PhD,  Dr. Kridda Chukiatsiri, DVM, MSc, PhD dan Dr. Thotsaphol Thomrongsuwannakij, DVm, PhD dari Avian Health Research Unit, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Universitas Chulalongkorn.

Penyakit Infectious Coryza dapat mebginfeksi semua jenis ayam dari segala usia. Bagi industry perunggasan, penyakit tersebut menyebabkan penurunan produksi telur sampai 40% dan penuruanan  bobot karkas ayam pedaging. Teknik isolasi bakteri penyebab penyakit Infectious Coryza membutuhkan penanganan khusus karena bakteri A. paragallinarum termasuk bakteri yang fastidious atau sulit ditumbuhkan di laboratorium sehingga kadangkala terjadi miss-diagnosa. Melalui pelatihan yang disponsori PT Zoetis Animalhealth Indonesia ini, diharapkan Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Institut Pertanian Bogor, khususnya Departemen IPHK dapat menjadi mitra untuk mengisolasi dan mengidentifikasi bakteri A. paragallinarum  dan mengembangkan penelitian terkait dengan bakteri A. paragallinarum tersebut.

One Health E-Learning Workshop: Development of Course Material with One Health Content Using E-Learning Method


The One Health E-Learning Workshop was held at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bogor Agricultural University on 8th August 2017. The purposes of this workshop were to increase the understanding of the participants about One Health concepts in controlling zoonosis, and to increase the participant’s capability of using E-learning as one of the learning methods.

This workshop was organized by Department of Animal Infectious Diseases and Veterinary Public Health in collaboration with Indonesia One Health University Network (INDOHUN) and supported by USAID.

One Health recognizes that the health of people is connected to the health of animals and the environment. The goal of One Health is to encourage the collaborative efforts of multiple disciplines-working locally, nationally, and globally to achieve the best health for people, animals, and our environment. A One Health approach is important because 6 out of every 10 infectious diseases in humans are spread from animals. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bogor Agricultural University has a strategic role to give education about One Health concept.

The materials given in One Health E-Learning Workshop consisted of three topics. The first topic was "One Health Concept in Zoonotic Control and Its Development in Education Curriculum", presented by the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of IPB, Prof. Drh. Srihadi Agungpriyono, PhD, PAVet (K). Furthermore, the second topic on "Management and Utilization of Lecture Management System IPB in applying E-Learning" was delivered by the speaker from Academic Development Program (Pengembangan Program Akademik/PPA) Bogor Agricultural University, Arie Wijayanto, SSi. The participants practiced about "The Use of Lecturer Management System-IPB" guided by Arie Wijayanto, SSi and team. The third topic was "Preparation of E-Learning Based Teaching Materials" delivered by Ir. Sutrisno Koswara, MSi and team from PPA BAU. After the third material, participants practiced to Prepare E-Learning Based Teaching Materials.

This workshop built the capacity of lecturers at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, BAU regarding One Health and E-Learning. The workshop went well and smoothly. According to the survey, the strengths of this events were well organized and well prepared. The content about the implementation of One Health using e-Learning method was worthwhile. The participants also think that the knowledge on how to develop teaching materials based on e-learning method was needed by the participants.

Partisipasi dalam International Seminar and Workshop on Advanced Cellular and Molecular Biology Techniques

Pada tanggal 6-8 Juli 2017, Drh. Dordia Anindita Rotinsulu, MSi sebagai salah satu dosen di Departemen IPHK mengikuti “International Seminar and Workshop on  Advanced Cellular and Molecular Biology Techniques” di Fakultas Kedokteran, Universitas Udayana, Bali. Seminar tersebut menghadirkan pembicara di bidang Biologi Molekuler dari Jepang, Taiwan, Singapura, Thailand dan Indonesia.
Selain sesi plenary dengan menghadirkan para keynote and invited speaker, seminar ini juga menghadirkan sesi presentasi oral dan sesi poster. Adapun dalam seminar tersebut Drh. Dordia A. Rotinsulu, MSi membawakan makalah presentasi oral dengan judul Molecular Detection of Avian Influenza Virus From Birds Sold in A Multispecies Animal Market Jakarta yang merupakan hasil penelitian staf Departemen IPHK yaitu Drh. Surachmi Setiyaningsih, PhD, drh. Abdulgani Amri Siregar, MSi dan Drh. Dordia A. Rotinsulu, MSi.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, sejumlah unggas yang dijual di salah satu pasar hewan hidup dengan komoditas hewan yang multispesies di Jakarta ternyata positif Flu Burung (Avian Influenza). Namun, unggas-unggas tersebut tidak terinfeksi oleh Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza subtype H5.
